Almaty Tourism Bureau is a non-profit organization established to promote Almaty as a tourist destination on the international stage. Founded in 2012 as the Tourist Information Center of Almaty city, the institution was reorganized in September 2023 into the Almaty Tourism Bureau to strengthen the city's tourism marketing and develop its potential. Under the Visit Almaty brand, the Bureau provides information to both international and domestic tourists, including maps, guides, and consultations. Its core mission is to enhance the city’s tourism brand, improve the visitor experience, and increase global recognition of Almaty.
Among its major initiatives are projects such as Tourist Portrait, Tourist Path, Gastroguide, Crossroads, 360, and the tourism register. These efforts focus on tourism development, attracting investment, and preserving the cultural and natural heritage of the city. The Bureau also works with key opinion leaders, inviting influential figures to promote Almaty. In 2024, 176 bloggers, journalists, and opinion leaders from 42 countries visited the city, significantly contributing to Almaty’s international image.
As a result of these efforts, in 2024 Almaty was included in the Top 52 Cities by The New York Times, Top 24 by Wanderlust, and Top 5 by Condé Nast Traveler Italia. The city also hosted travel show productions for major global platforms such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, and others.
